Growing up on the East coast, Laura’s Gills parents introduced her to boating; from learning to sail in the Chesapeake Bay to fishing in Maine. In 1997, Laura was introduced to two new loves; her husband and cruising the Great Lakes.

Happily relocating to northern Ohio, Laura Gills Interior Design Company was born. Over the years, Laura noticed how isolated marine interior design was from the commercial and residential industries. Though designing for a moving watercraft is quite different from designing buildings, there is a wide array of product suitable for marine interiors. There is also quite a bit of marine product that the public isn’t exposed to.

Freshwater Gills launched as a sister company to Laura Gills Interior Design Company focusing on yacht and boat interiors. We desire to take tired, outdated, and overly vanilla interiors, and create an upscale, functional, and comfortable floating environment. After all, it is one of your major destination spots. Your retreat. Possibly a place called home.
